Last time: The Writing Life (With a Day Job)
“I want to be the girl with the most cake.” —Courtney Love, “Doll Parts”
I have been writing since I was seven years old. Stories and sweet (re: darkly weird) little poems, but also I knew I wanted to be an author of books very early on. If I had known how long it would take, would I still have pursued this dream?
Yes, 1000%. This has always been the dream. Writing has given me more gifts than this big announcement. But also—I am pretty stoked about this big announcement.
My debut novel, Doll Parts, will be out in the world next summer. No official pub date yet, no pre-order links yet, but soon. Very soon for more updates and more squealing. I’m glad you are along for the ride.
If you like suspense, books about friendship, Sylvia Plath, dark academia, ghosts, and grunge vibes, this book is for you. Of course, there is some real mourning and grief in there, too. I can’t wait to share more.
Help me spread the news! I need help sharing and celebrating, even at this early stage in the process.
Find me on social media (I’m pretty much on all the sites under the name Penny Zang) and share/repost my book announcement post. This includes Facebook, Threads, even Linkedin! I have few links below if needed.
You can also share the link to this newsletter or restack this announcement. Hell, even a posted screenshot would be a gift. Thank you in advance if you’re able to share. I am so grateful for the early love and support about the book deal announcement.
Also:
If you are so inclined to subscribe (as a free or as a paid subscriber), now would be a great time to do so. I’ll be mostly sharing updates here on Substack up until pub date.
Thank you again for riding along for all the conversations about grief (more of that, I’m sure); it has helped make this good news so much sweeter.
Congratulations!!!
So thrilled for you! Can't wait to read it!
